Resilience can be defined as the ability to respond positively in the face of adversity. This session will explore the evolution of the Brain Story and Resilience Scale Framework as a means of mobilizing knowledge of brain development and its connection to lifelong health outcomes. The main metaphors of the Brain Story, including the Resilience Scale, will be explored in the context of how they apply at the individual, organizational, and systems level to help shape policy and practice. The foundational knowledge of the Brain Story and Resilience Scale Framework creates a common language and tool that is accessible across populations and disciplines working to build, evaluate, and monitor change in resilience to ultimately improve outcomes for children, families, and communities.
