Ooleepeeka (Oolee) Shoo is originally from Iqaluit, Nunavut. She moved and living outside of Ottawa area for the last 27 years with her husband. She has two handsome sons that work at Baffinland Iron ore mines. Oolee has worked in various roles including as a Medical Interpreter with the Ottawa Health Services Network INC, as a Medical Case Manager at Akausivik Inuit Family Health Team in Ottawa and currently as a Client Liaison Officer with the Government of Nunavut for the Ontario region. She also does other Interpretating for various companies when needed. Oolee’s passion and commitment is to help Inuit especially those most in need when Inuit are brought south - far from home often leaving behind family, friends and their support network. She has front line experience in helping Inuit navigate the often foreign, confusing and scary government systems in the south. Her strong work ethic, compassion, humour and empathy makes her a perfect candidate as a Liaison Officer. She can linguistically and culturally connect with clients which can help them feel more at ease and removes the inherent language barriers. Oolee knows first hand how important it is for Inuit from the north to have Inuit specific programs in the south and most importantly with Inuit involved in providing this support.
