Research Coordinator

JoAnne Whittingham, MSc., has been a Research Coordinator at CHEO (CHEO Research Institute) with 30 years of experience. She has worked with multi-disciplinary research teams at the CHEO Research Institute Child Hearing Laboratory, the Ottawa Hospital Auditory Research Unit and the Canadian Association of Pediatric Health Centres. She has worked on hearing loss research projects including the outcomes of newborn hearing screening programs, the effects of mild and bilateral hearing in children, factors affecting outcome in children with cochlear implants and the outcomes of auditory verbal therapy in adults using cochlear implants. Other work included coordinating a national patient safety project. As well as coordinating various research projects she has maintained active clinical databases and supervised student research assistants, undergraduate research projects, and international exchange students working with the research team.
