MRI Supervisor & MR Safety Officer, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO)
Kara Rochette is the MRI Supervisor and MR Safety Officer at CHEO, with nearly 20 years of experience as an MRI Technologist. She began her career as a Medical Radiation Technologist in the field of Radiography before specializing in MRI, developing expertise in pediatric MRI and MR safety.
In addition to her clinical leadership, Kara has a strong background in education. She spent seven years teaching cross-sectional anatomy and patient care for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at the Canadian National Institute of Health (CNIH), and has also served two years as an MRI clinical instructor.
As a strong advocate for process improvement, Kara is proud to have been part of a team that reduced CHEO’s general anesthetic MRI waitlist by more than 70%, significantly improving patient access to imaging. At this conference, she is presenting a poster titled, "External MRI: An Effective Solution for Sustaining Patient Volumes During Operational Downtime," which details how her team successfully maintained patient volumes and prevented increased wait times during a 16-week MRI system downtime.
Committed to advancing MRI practices, MR safety, and patient-centered imaging, Kara continues to contribute to the field through both clinical excellence and education.
