Megan Thomas is a Developmental Paediatrician and Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nove Scotia. She is also cross-appointed to the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Lancaster University, UK. Her research is clinically focused and predominantly involves children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families. Dr Thomas has a particular interest in sleep and has been involved in behavioural and pharmacological sleep studies, as well as a systematic review of sleep interventions for children with neurodisabilities. As her experience of sleep medicine and sleep research have developed, she has become interested and committed to helping all children and their families, and indeed society in general, achieve healthy sleep. This led to the founding of the Canadian Paediatric Society Sleep Special Interest Group, of which she is the inaugral chair, and being appointed co-chair of the International Paediatric Sleep Association 'sleep-friendly' hospitals Task Force, advocating for healthy sleep for children/youth and their parent/carers admitted to hospital insettings throughout the world.
