Karen Margallo is currently the Director for Child & Family Community Integrated Care at McMaster Children’s Hospital, Hamilton Health Sciences and Site Administrator for the Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre. Her role is focused on working in partnership at the local, regional and provincial levels to design and implement new programs and services to meet the growing needs. This includes partnering with our children, youth, families and communities in the provision of the highest quality, equitable, innovative and integrated health care. Key initial components include the Extensive Needs Program to provide wrap-around care for children, youth and families with multiple mental, physical, behavioural and social health complexities, our Complex Care program for children and youth with medical complexity, our Regional Pediatric Palliative Program – QoLA Care, and the partnership with the Kemp Care Network (operator of the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice) to open a Pediatric Hospice in South Central Ontario. She has over twenty years of experience at HHS in both clinical and leadership roles. As a graduate of the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario, Karen holds an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree and Clinical Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. She is a strong supporter of ensure provision of quality patient/family care, clinical education, quality improvement, research, and leadership development.
