Dr. Radha Jetty’s passion pervades her lifework as a pediatrician. As the Physician Lead for Indigenous child health at CHEO, medical director of the Aakuluk clinic at CHEO, clinical investigator at the CHEO research institute and associate professor at the University of Ottawa, she strives to improve the health of all children with a focus on Indigenous children in Canada and globally. As Nunavut’s first full time pediatrician, she established the territory’s pediatrics program from 2007 to 2012. She received her medical degree from McGill University and completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Ottawa. She has developed curricula for undergraduate and postgraduate Indigenous health medical education. As a medical advisor to Indigenous services at the government of Canada and former chair of the Canadian Pediatric Society Committee for First Nations, Inuit and Métis Health and former co-chair of the International Meeting on Indigenous child health she has lobbied for Indigenous children’s rights with Indigenous organizations at provincial, national and internationally at the Inter-American human rights commission. She strives to advocate for health equity among Canadian Indigenous children by developing strong partnerships between her academic and community institutions. She was awarded the 2018 Dr. Guillermo Gutierrez Award for Advocacy at CHEO. Dr. Radha Jetty was recognized as a CBC Trailblazer in 2020 for the positive impact of her work.
Her truest passion is now being a mother to her daughter, Jaya.
