This session will explore what it truly means to be “ready for surgery”, featuring insights from a family advisor’s perspective. We will share how digital tools—MyChart, Epic Questionnaires, and Procedure Pass—have enhanced operational efficiency and streamlined care for pediatric elective surgery patients. Through the example of Surgery FLIPP (A Flow Lean Improvement Project for Patients, Parents and Providers), we will examine strategies for process redesign and patient-caregiver partnerships that drive positive outcomes, improving both experiences and workflows for patients, caregivers, and staff. Additionally, we will engage the audience in discussions on prioritizing both staff and care recipients in process redesign efforts. Finally, we will explore how to generate energy for change, sustain momentum in complex initiatives, and measure success beyond traditional numerical metrics.
